Hi,

Are you the owner of the Traynor page I stumbled on? http://www.lynx.net/~jc/traynorSchmArchive.html

Is there more?

yeah, I'm the owner and that's as far as I got ... if there's more info you'd like to share I'd be "very" glad to post it

I ask as I am semi sponsored by Traynor (I have played their amps for 35+ years. I still play a 71 YGL3 I bought new) I have schematics and other access to tech info on old Traynors.

I could explain to several posters why some tubes are used over others and why you would use different tubes in the 12ax7 family for tone.

Peace

Mike

One post I read was about 12AX7s and they found a 12AY7 in the amp and another post told him to replace it with the original. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In both the YGL3 and YBA by changing one or two AX7's to AU7's or AY7's you can change the tone significantly. AU7's are my choice for a replacement but will work in the Traynor's as it will pull more plate voltage but the Traynor uses a heavier resistor that can handle the voltage with no problem.

The 12AU7 is my choice (and an old Traynor Service Tech's) for V3 in my YGL3 (1972). If you play blues or Jazz, it gives you a smoother response to the outputs. You can run the amp with 4 12AU7s with no problems. (For a bigger bite for hard rock, 4 12AU7s are hard to beat but they run the amp much hotter need to keep an eye on the plate resistors if you really crank it up for long periods of time)

My road case always has a handful of AU7's and AX7's just for the room (venue) I am playing.

Donna Grantis currently playing with Prince plays through a YBA1 (1970) and uses 2 12AY7s.

Hi there, i was trying to search on line for info on what Traynor amplifiers Eric Clapton, John Lennon & Klaus Vorrmann played through at the Live Peace in Toronto Concert performing as the Plastic Ono Band and i came across a forum of "traynor talk" and couldn't find a way to post but i found your email addresses on the page. In video it definitely looks like Traynor amps and the bottoms could be Traynor or Fender Dual Showman 2 x 15"

So, do y'all have any insight to this?
